To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the role of the European Union Institute for Security Studies. [57867]

§ Mr. Bradshaw
The European Union's Institute of Security Studies' main responsibility is to conduct academic research and analysis on issues related to the Common Foreign and Security Policy. Specifically, it produces and commissions research papers and arranges seminars. The Institute maintains a network of exchanges with other research institutes and think-tanks both inside and outside the European Union.
