Letter from Len Cook to Brian Iddon, dated 20 May 2002: As National Statistician, I have been asked to reply to your recent question on the average gap between men's and women's pay in Bolton. (57170) The New Earnings Survey (NES) provides earnings data for Great Britain for full-time employees on adult rates of pay. In April 2001, the latest date for which figures are available, the average hourly earnings in Bolton were £9.36 for men and £8.98 for women.
