HC Deb 08 May 2002 vol 385 c167W
9. Mr. Bryant

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what evaluation his Department has made of Wales' preparations for possible UK adoption of the euro. [53153]

Mr. Paul Murphy

Wales has been preparing for the arrival of the euro since 1998 when the old Welsh Office set up the Euro Task Force for Wales to make Welsh businesses aware of the issues which might affect them following the introduction of the euro in the 12 countries of the eurozone.

The Task Force has been disseminating information to businesses across Wales in a number of ways including conferences, exhibitions, a telephone helpline, website and leaflets.
