Organ Number waiting (i) Kidney 4,934 (ii) Heart 105 (iii) Heart and lung 72 (iv) Lung 241 (v) Liver 158 There were 2,717 solid organ transplants carried out in the UK in 2001. This figure includes all solid organs, including kidney and living donor transplants.
