To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if(a) his Department and (b) its agencies have a policy of not considering applications for employment by persons over a particular age. [59456]

[holding answer 10 June 2002]: HM Treasury and its executive agency, the Debt Management Office, do not apply age restrictions on applications for employment, with the exception that we cannot consider applicants above our maximum retirement age of 60.
