To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office how many public appointments are held by Sikhs. [63610]

My Department does not collect data on the number of Sikhs appointed to public appointments. It collects diversity data for public appointments on the following criteria: Bangladeshi; Black-African; Black-Caribbean; Black-any other; Indian; Pakistani; Chinese; mixed ethnic background; any other Asian; White; or any other ethnic background.

My Department publishes summary ethnic data covering all Government Departments in the Public Bodies' yearbook; the latest edition is 'Public Bodies 2001'.
