§ Mr. BoatengThe aggregate figure for government grants to private organisations and individual was £28.6 billion in 2000–01 (the last year for which full outturn data are available) compared with £24.8 billion in 1997–98. This excludes social security payments classified as grants in the national accounts as grants and includes lottery grants.
