To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department how many and what percentage of records relating to the Royal Family eligible for release under the 30 year rule in(a) 1997, (b) 1998, (c) 1999, (d) 2000 and (e) 2001 were withheld. [57664]

It is estimated that the approximate number and percentage of records, which relate to the Royal Family and were subject to extended closure, was as follows for each of the years concerned.

  1. (a) 2 (2 per cent.)
  2. (b) 4 (5 per cent.)
  3. (c) 3 (4 per cent.)
  4. (d) 4 (5 per cent.)
  5. (e) 4 (6 per cent.)
