To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what plans he has to bring forward proposals to change the Crichel Down rules. [72770]

The Government's policy statement entitled "Compulsory Purchase Powers, Procedures and Compensation; the way forward", published on 18 July. made it clear that there will be a consultation exercise on the details of a revised set of rules which we envisage will then form the basis for the formulation of statutory rules in due course.
