To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills how many professional staff she estimates need to be transferred from local authorities to Ofsted as a result of the transfer of responsibility for the regulation of child care to Ofsted. [69141]

In September 2001, 1,431 staff transferred from local authorities to the Office for Standards in Education. No further transfers are envisaged.
