§ Dr. FoxTo ask the Secretary of State for Health how many extra(a) intermediate care beds and (b) nonresidential intermediate care places have been introduced since the publication of the National Plan. [47827]
§ Jacqui SmithThe results of a survey in autumn 2001 for national health service intermediate care in England indicated that good progress has been made towards meeting the NHS Plan targets.
While audited figures for 2001–02 will not be available for another eight weeks or so, we expect on the basis of last year's survey that around an additional 2,400 intermediate care beds and 6,200 non-residential intermediate care places will have been provided, compared to year 1999–2000, which was the baseline used in the NHS Plan.
