§ Mr. Jim Cunningham
To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will increase the money for personal social services in Coventry to match the national average.
§ Yvette Cooper
[holding answer 23 January 2002]: Coventry's personal social services standard spending assessment increases in 2002–03 by about 4 per cent. compared to the national average increase of about 5 per cent. Coventry's increase is below the national average mainly because its population has decreased, whereas the national population has increased. Population size is a key factor in the SSA allocation formulae.
