§ Jacqui Smith[holding answer 11 January 2002]: Of the £100 million available nationally for the Building Care Capacity in 2001–02, Manchester received 79W £784,534. On 8 January, we announced that Manchester would get £1.9 million of the £190 million available nationally for 2002–03.
Using this additional funding Manchester council has reduced delayed discharges locally since November. This is part of a national reduction in delayed discharges by 10 per cent. since September 2001.
