§ Ms KeebleThe information requested for England is shown in the following table. Annual figures are available only from 1993 onwards when the Survey of English Housing started. Figures for earlier years come from a periodic supplementary questionnaire on housing topics that was included in the Labour Force Survey. For years before 1993 figures in terms of persons are not readily available so the information requested has been provided in terms of households. If information about housing in Wales is required inquiries should be made to the Office for the Secretary of State for Wales.

§ Ms KeebleIt is open to any local authority with housing stock to manage that stock through arm's length arrangements, subject to the agreement of the Secretary of State to the delegation of their housing management functions. We do not hold information on the number of authorities that may be considering this option. On 983W Thursday 29 November 2001, we announced conditional funding allocations to eight local authorities which intend to pursue this option Official Report, column 1064W. These allocations will be confirmed during 2002 if the authorities meet the necessary criteria. Applications for the next round of conditional allocations are due by the end of February 2002.
