To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on his plans for investment in public services in London. [35772]

Plans for expenditure on public services across the UK for the next three years will be set out in the summer, following the Spending Review.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how he intends to fund improvements in local authority public services; and if he will make a statement. [35769]

The Government are making additional investment in public services. Local authorities are no exception. Government grant increased by 7.5 per cent. in the 2002–03 local government finance settlement, with provision for spending on education up 8.8 per cent. and social services up 6.2 per cent.
