To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will set out the reasons underlying the changes in ministerial priorities for police authorities for 2002–03 since 2001–02. [36808]

Proposed changes to ministerial priorities went out for consultation on 16 January 2002. The consultation period is now over and my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary expects shortly to be in a position to make his decision in the light of comments received, and to make an Order under Section 37(1) of the Police Act 1996.
