§ Lord RookerInformation held centrally does not distinguish between front and rear seat belt offences. Overall for seat belt offences in England and Wales in 2000 there were 155,300 fixed penalty notices issued; 5,700 proceedings at magistrates' courts; and 6,200 written warnings given.
