To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what tendering process was employed prior to the award of contracts to supply floor coverings to military facilities with effect from the end of 2001. [36765]

Dr. Moonie

The Ministry of Defence has used OGCbuying.solutions as its contracting agent for a range of stores including floor coverings since 1991. OGCbuying.solutions (formerly The Buying Agency) awards all its contracts on the basis of rigorous competitive tendering which is compliant with legislative requirements, fitness for purpose, defined performance standards and best value for money.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence for what reason a single contract for the provision of carpeting to all military installations in the United Kingdom and overseas was awarded. [36766]

There is no single contract for the provision of carpeting to all military installations in the UK and overseas.
