To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions which housing authority will have responsibility for housing applicants for asylum approved for indefinite leave to remain under the proposals in the White Paper, Asylum Law. [37275]

I refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Bethnal Green and Bow (Ms King) on 15 January 2002,Official Report, column 181W. Under the proposals in the White Paper, asylum seekers granted refugee status would, as now, be granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
