To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how many days were lost in strike action in her Department(a) in Somerset and Devon and (b) in the UK in 2000–01. [34130]

There were no days lost through strike action throughout 2000–01 in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (then referred to as the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food).

During 2001–02, days lost due to strike action in the Department were (a) 2895 in offices in the counties of Somerset and Devon, (b) 16,201 in the UK overall.
