To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when the training standards for fingerprint experts were last reviewed. [30707]

Mr. Denham

The training standards for fingerprint experts have recently been revised. All new fingerprint officers undergo the new modular training programme which incorporates the impact of the change from the previous 16 point standard. The new training programme began being rolled out from 1 April 2001.
