HC Deb 16 December 2002 vol 396 c630W
Mr. Paul Marsden

To ask the Deputy Prime Minister how many people he estimates are sleeping rough. [87422]

Mrs. Roche

As of June 2002, local authority statistics show that around 600 people are sleeping rough on any one night. This represents a reduction of around two-thirds since 1998 when it was estimated that nearly 2,000 people were sleeping rough on any one night.
