To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what action he is taking to reduce overstretch in the Army. [83985]

Dr. Moonie

We do not believe that the Army is overstretched. However, they are currently very busy in light of firelighters' industrial action. The Ministry of Defence keeps all operational commitments under review and reduces the numbers deployed where possible.
