HC Deb 26 April 2002 vol 384 c475W
Mr. Bercow

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development how much has been spent by her Department on training in leadership skills for Ministers and officials in each of the last five years. [52711]

Hilary Benn

Spending on training in Leadership skills for which records are maintained centrally was as follows:

£
2001–2002 6,150
2000–2001 16,804
1999–2000 10,075
1998–1999 80,781
1997–1998 nil

As training budgets are delegated to individual DFID departments both in the UK and overseas, these figures may not represent the totality of spending in this area. An exhaustive calculation would involve disproportionate cost.
