To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport if she will make a statement on the role of her Department in the(a) funding and (b) organisation of state and royal ceremonial occasions. [52880]

My Department is responsible for providing and funding certain facilities for state and royal ceremonial occasions. They areInward State Visits—Erection of reception pavilions, flag poles and flying of flags in either London or Windsor depending on arrival arrangements. Remembrance Day—Erection of media stands, installation of public address system and marking out of standing positions around the Cenotaph. The Queen's Birthday Parade—Erection of flagpoles and flag flying down the Mall and along Horse Guards Approach Road. Flag Flying—Erection of flag poles and flying of flags around Parliament Square for Commonwealth Day, UN Day and Europe Day. Royal and State funerals—Responsibility for co-ordinating the multi-agency response to preparing the processional route and provision of media and public facilities.
