§ Ms BlearsInformation about ambulance responses to emergency calls is not available on a quarterly basis. The most recent information available for urban and all other ambulance NHS trusts about the proportion of emergency calls resulting in an ambulance arriving at the scene of the reported incident within the Government's target response times is contained in the Department of Health Statistical Bulletin "Ambulance Services, England 2000–01". Latest provisional management information indicates that at February 2002, 28 out of the 32 ambulance trusts in England were achieving our key target of responding to 75 per cent. of immediately life threatening '999 calls' within eight minutes (category A). All ambulance trusts are expected to achieve the 75 per cent. target during 2002.
