To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many employers have been detected paying less than national minimum wage in the last three months; and what action has been taken. [45041]

The Inland Revenue have detected 471 non-compliant employers in the last three months, with the total amount of wages arrears identified being £2,734,000.

In the same period, 25 enforcement notices and eight penalty notices have been served on employers. There have been four cases taken by the Inland Revenue to employment tribunal on behalf of workers, with a successful outcome in each instance.
