To ask the Secretary of State for Health what the cost is of the NHS walk-in centres in(a) 2000–01 and (b) 2001–02. [14911]

The estimated revenue costs for 2001–02 of the 42 national health service walk-in centres which will be operating before the end of this year are £36 million. The revenue costs in 2000–01 of the 40 centres then open were £33 million. In addition, development of these centres has involved capital costs of £30 million in 2000–01 and an estimated £5 million in 2001–02.
