As National Statistician I have been asked to reply to your recent question on the level of profitability of United Kingdom industry (17280).A First Release of the Profitability of UK Companies was published by the Office for National Statistics on 5 October 2001 and is available on the National Statistics website (www.statistics.gov.uk). This release covers UK Private Non-Financial Companies and gives quarterly data from 1989 to the second quarter of 2001.Profitability data is not available on a regional basis.
