To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions if he will make a statement on the improvements made to services by First North Western Trains on the Blackpool to Manchester line. [5792]

§ Mr. Jamieson
New class 175 trains are operating on some Blackpool North to Manchester airport services. All of these services will be operated by the new trains when the full fleet is delivered by the late autumn. The class 142 and 150 units used on Blackpool South to Manchester services were refurbished last year. At Chorley station the car park has been extended and CCTV installed.
