To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many nursing vacancies there are in(a) England and (b) Cumbria. [5341]

The listed data show the number of nursing posts which have been vacant for three months or more (and the vacancy rate) in England and in North Cumbria and Morecambe Bay health authorities.

3 Three month vacancy rates are three month vacancies expressed as a percentage of three month vacancies plus staff in post from September 2000 medical and dental and non-medical workforce censuses (whole-time equivalent).
4 Numbers are rounded to the nearest 10.
5 Percentages are calculated on unrounded figures.
