HC Deb 16 January 2001 vol 361 c183W
29. Mr. Hoyle

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what measures he is taking to ensure that information provided by the National Rail Inquiry Service on timetables and fares is accurate. [143994]

Mr. Hill

The Rail Regulator ensures that the National Rail Enquiry Service (NRES) provides accurate and impartial information through the use of mystery shopper exercises, and has powers to take enforcement action against the operators who fund NRES if obligations are not met.

Further work is in progress on improving the quality of advice provided by NRES.
