To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what steps he is taking to create a normal security environment in Northern Ireland. [149951]

Normalisation of the security environment depends on the prevailing threat.

7. Mr. Ivan Lewis

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what assessment he has made of the potential impact of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000 on the normalisation of security in Northern Ireland. [149954]

Mr. Ingram

The Police (Northern Ireland) Act will assist normal policing by enabling the police service to operate more effectively and in partnership with the community.

That is what the people of Northern Ireland, including the police, want.

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what progress is being made towards the normalisation of security measures in Northern Ireland, with particular reference to border areas. [149955]
