Mr. Redwood

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how much income for the Dome was generated through(a) merchandising aids and (b) royalties. [150937]

The figure provided by the New Millennium Experience Company (NMEC) is subject to the Company's necessary external audit scrutiny. That work will begin shortly and will inform the content of the Company's Annual Report and Financial Statements for the period 1 January 2000 to 31 December 2000. The Report and Statements will be published in due course. NMEC has advised that income from merchandising was £2 million net, and from licensing was £0.2 million.

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what the total expenditure was on staffing the Dome from the run up period to the opening until the closure, including the costs of terminating contracts. [150925]

The Report and Statements will be published in due course. NMEC has advised that staffing expenditure for the period February 1997 to 31 December 1999 was £34.5 million. Staffing expenditure for the period 1 January 2000 to 31 December 2000 was £47.2 million including retention and bonus payments as provided for in staff contracts but excluding bonus payments to Directors.
