To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many people died of cardiac diseases in the Gateshead and South Tyneside health authority area in 2000. [148745]

§ Yvette Cooper
In 2000, 927 residents from the Gateshead and South Tyneside health authority area died from cardiac diseases. This includes those who died as a 35W result of ischaemic heart disease and heart failure. A small percentage of deaths will be excluded as it is more difficult to attribute them to cardiac diseases.
