To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport if she will make a statement on(a) the process and (b) the timing of the renewal of the BBC Charter. [21373]

§ Dr. Howells
The current Charter will expire in 2006 after a term of 10 years. We expect to start the review process in 2004 and will make an announcement on the process and timing in due course.
