To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many(a) special advisers and (b)press officers were employed (i) full time, (ii) part time and (iii) on a contract basis by his Department in each year since 1992. [6877]

The number of press officers employed by HM Treasury has remained broadly constant since 1992. There are currently seven, in addition to the Head of Communications.
