§ Dr. HowellsMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry made an Order under the Fair Trading Act 1973 on 1 August to implement the recommendations in the Competition Commission report on the supply of new cars. The Order came into effect on 1 September. It contains a number of provisions, including a requirement that suppliers must offer dealers 11W who purchase volumes of cars outright equivalent discounts to those offered to fleet customers who purchase similar volumes.
