HL Deb 30 November 2000 vol 619 c161WA
Lord Laird

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether staff of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission are required to display any particular attitude towards human rights. [HL4758]

Lord Falconer of Thoroton

This is a matter for the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission. I am advised that when advertising posts it is common practice for the commission to include, in the job description and specification, a requirement of the following kind:

to display a commitment to the protection of human rights and to the promotion of equality and to show a sensitivity to the diversity of views on human rights issues in Northern Ireland.
