§ Ms StuartThe use of ammonia and hydrocarbons in hospitals is a matter for individual hospital trusts in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive. All hospitals are required to undertake risk assessments under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulations. This covers assessment of all potentially dangerous chemicals, including ammonia and hydrocarbons, in all hospital areas, including theatres.
