§ Mr. BoatengAbove prescribed minimum rates, levels of prisoner pay are set at governor's discretion and will vary depending upon the type of work offered and the regime in place. At present, establishments do not provide headquarters with the information required to answer this question. The multi-faceted nature of regimes in the Prison Service estate means that the collation of these statistics would entail expense beyond acceptable levels.
