HL Deb 25 January 2000 vol 608 c190WA
Lord Pearson of Rannoch

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What was the value, for the last full year for which data was available, of all the duties, levies and tariffs on imports from non-European Union countries into the United Kingdom imposed on goods (including agricultural produce) and commercial services. [HL577]

Lord McIntosh of Haringey

It is estimated that in 1998, the UK received some £2.8 billion in respect of customs duties and excise duties on goods (including agricultural products) imported into the UK from outside the European Union. Services are not subject to duties.
