HC Deb 21 February 2000 vol 344 c722W
Mr. Paterson

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many families have been rehoused in Northern Ireland to escape terrorist activities since the Good Friday Agreement. [110054]

Mr. Ingram

[holding answer 14 February 2000]: The Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive has advised that from April 1998-February 2000 a total of 547 AI (intimidation) cases were housed. This includes those rehoused as a result of terrorist attack among others who were awarded AI(I).

An applicant will be entitled to AI(I)(intimidation status) where either

  1. (a) The applicant's home has been destroyed or seriously damaged (by fire, explosion or other means) as a result of terrorist or sectarian attack; or
  2. (b) The applicant cannot reasonably be expected to continue to live, or to resume living in, his/her home, because, if he or she were to do so, there would, in the opinion of the Executive, be a serious and imminent risk that the applicant or one or more of the applicants household, would be killed or seriously injured as a result of terrorist or sectarian attack.
