§ Yvette CooperThe table shows the number of AIDS deaths and newly diagnosed HIV infections reported in the United Kingdom for the calendar years 1985, 1990 and 1995 and for the last 12-month period. No deaths were recorded for people with AIDS in 1980. The table also shows the total deaths in HIV-infected individuals because in recent years (since effective combination antiretroviral treatment came into widespread use) this has become more representative of HIV-related mortality.
