§ Ms Estelle MorrisThe Government are making School Standards Grant of approximately £290 million available in 2000–01. In 2001–02 the amount of such grant will increase to £540 million, and will continue for the following two years with a 2.75 per cent. annual uplift. Schools receive this grant in lump sums based on the size230W and category of school; in 2001–02 a typical primary school will receive £20,000 and a typical secondary school, £60,000.

The figures for 1999–2000 are estimated payments, as audited outturn statements have yet to be received from all authorities. The figures include all grants paid through the Standards Fund payment system, excluding New Deal for Schools Capital, which is not part of the Standards Fund programme. Details for 2000–01 are not yet available.
