§ Mr. Meacher[holding answer 12 December 2000]: The Spending Review 2000 provided substantial extra resources for waste and recycling:
An annual increase in the provision for revenue spending by local authorities for environmental and cultural services, including waste and recycling; by the third year this will have risen by £1,127 million over current provision;£140 million specifically for local authority waste and recycling;£220 million PFI credits ring-fenced for integrated waste management schemes, which include a recycling component.SR2000 also provided significant resources to the Waste and Resources Action Programme to overcome market barriers to the refuse and recycling of waste. Currently, total funding from Government and the devolved Administrations over the three years is planned to be around £30 million.
