To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what amount of drugs has been taken out of circulation in each year since 1995 within the UK, by type; [94519]

(2) what amount of drugs have been taken out of circulation annually in Merseyside since 1995, by type. [94520]

The information requested is given in the table, which covers the period 1995–1997, the latest for which date are available. It is hoped to publish 1998 figures by the end of the year.
