HC Deb 19 October 1999 vol 336 c575W
Mr. David Atkinson

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement of progress on the millennium readiness of his Department's computer systems, and those for which it is responsible in the provision of public services; if contingency plans are in place; and what slippage has occurred since the July quarterly report to the House. [93573]

Mr. Paul Murphy

My Department is not responsible for any computer systems, which deliver public services. My Department's internal computer systems form part of a larger network, which also serves the National Assembly for Wales. A full inventory of every PC on this network has been undertaken, and progress is well advanced.

I understand that contingency plans are in place and I am not aware of any slippage since the July quarterly report in the House. The National Assembly for Wales is responsible for millennium preparations in Wales, and Mrs. Edwina Hart made a statement to the Assembly on 23 September regarding this matter.
