§ Ms StuartThe length of appointment for members of National Health Service boards will depend upon a range of factors, including the length of time already served by a re-appointed candidate; when the terms of office of other board members are due to come to an end; and any plans relating to the future of the body involved. Each case will be looked at on its merits, the decision taken depending upon the different circumstances involved.
During the last six months, a total of 65 National Health Service trust chairs have been appointed, of which 25 were re-appointments. Of those chairs who were re-appointed, three were appointed for three-year terms and nine for two years. Details are shown in the table.
