Milk Consumption in Schools

asked Her Majesty's Government:

In the light of the Minister of Agriculture's announcement on 28th October (HC Deb., col. 1131) that the Milk Development Council's remit will be extended to promote liquid milk, what action they will take to extend the take-up of milk consumption in schools. [HL4562]

The structure of the generic liquid milk promotion campaign has yet to be decided by the dairy industry. The Government have, however, already taken action via the Intervention Board to draw the attention of schools to the existence of the EU school milk subsidy scheme, and to simplify its operations.
